Which address your emails go out from
You type the sender address yourself, once, and the domain check starts from it. The place: the Setări client menu, the „Cine trimite” card, the „Adresa de la care trimiți” field. Type an address on your company domain, press Salvează, then go up to the „De unde trimiți” card and press „Pornește verificarea domeniului”. The order matters: the domain button does not start without an address and tells you to add one first.
Only the account owner can change the address. The display name, what people see in their inbox, is separate and can be changed any time from the same card.
Connecting the domain is the only configuration you do outside ClevMail, at the company you bought your domain from.
A Gmail address does not work
An address on gmail.com, yahoo.com or another free provider is refused when you save it, with the reason on screen: to reach the inbox, emails have to be signed from your domain's DNS, and gmail.com's DNS is not yours. The rule comes from the email providers, which check the domain signature before deciding what is spam. Gmail is still fine as a reply address, in the field below.
If you do not have a domain yet
The rest of the platform works without one: subscribers, tags, drafts, the assistant. On the Free plan you can also send: until you connect a domain, emails go out from the platform address, noreply@clevmail.ro, with your name as the sender, and replies land at the reply address you set. It is a starting point: the address is shared by every account without a domain, and subscribers do not see your company in the sender address. On a paid plan, your own address is required.
Why you do not send from your main domain
If your domain already carries your business email, meaning the addresses where clients and suppliers write to you, marketing sends go out on a dedicated subdomain, in the form news.yourdomain.com.
The reason is reputation. An older list, with people who have not heard from you in a long time, can produce unsubscribes and complaints above average on the first send. On a separate subdomain, none of that touches the address where you receive your working mail. If email providers start to doubt the subdomain, your ordinary correspondence carries on untouched.
You can stay on the main domain. The platform then shows the subdomain recommendation under the address field, with the address already composed, but it does not force you.
Choosing your subdomain
Any short word works if nobody is using it yet: news, mail, newsletter, hello. Changing it later is hard, because reputation builds on it over time, so choose it once.
The full sender address is built from the subdomain, for example contact@news.yourdomain.com.
What comes next
Connecting the domain means copying a few records into your hosting provider panel, then running a check. Both are covered in the next article.
The physical address in the email footer is shown by default. For a company registered at a home address, filling that field out of habit sends the home address to the entire list. The details are in the article about account settings, and it is worth reading before your first campaign.
