Payment, invoices, changing plan, cancelling
The Subscription screen in the menu shows your current plan and how much of it you have used, covered in the article on plans, limits and access. Under the plan card you may also see a short line about payment.
- “The free plan. When you need more, pick a paid plan right here.” You are on Free, and can move to a paid plan directly from this screen, by card.
- “Plan arranged with us directly. It does not renew automatically on a card.” This is the case for clients whose plan was set up directly with the ClevMail team, before card payment existed. Changing or cancelling is still requested through the contact form.
- “Renews on [date].” You have a subscription started by card, through Stripe, that renews automatically.
- “Cancelled. The account stays active until [date].” or “The paid subscription was cancelled. The account is on the free plan.” The subscription has already ended, or will end at the close of the paid period.
How payment works today
If you are on the Free plan, or already have a card subscription, upgrading or switching plans is done straight from Subscription: pick Starter, Growth or Pro, pay on Stripe's secure page, and the plan activates right away, without waiting on anyone from us. If you switch between two paid plans already on a card, the difference for the remaining days of the month shows up on your next invoice.
If your plan was arranged directly with us, without a card, you do not see the payment grid: you see “Want a different plan?” with See all plans and Write to us, same as before. Details are in the article on plans and limits.
Invoices
Stripe processes the card payment and keeps its own record of it, but the app does not yet have its own invoice screen or a download button. The official fiscal invoice, in your company's name, still comes from us, not automatically from Stripe: ask for it through the contact form, with your company name and the period it covers.
If the screen says your payment did not go through
For accounts on a card subscription, a failed payment shows on screen with “The last payment did not go through” and a recommendation to update your card. The account stays active for a few days while the payment is retried.
Updating the card is not something you can do from this screen. Write to us through the contact form with your account name, and we sort the payment out with you directly.
Cancelling
If you have a subscription started by card, through Stripe, you will find the “Cancel subscription” button right in Subscription, under the plan grid, with a confirmation before it cancels. The account stays active until the end of the period you already paid for, then moves to the Free plan automatically.
If your plan was arranged directly with us, without a card, there is no cancel button: it is requested through the contact form, and the terms are whatever was agreed when we set up your account, not a fixed platform term.
